Dotted notes.

If we put a dot after a note, it means that the note is lengthened by half of itself.
So if we want to play a dotted crotchet, that is like the length of three quavers and the note that follows it could be an quaver. Like this:

if we want to play a dotted minim, that is like the length of three crotchets and the note that follows it could be a crotchet. Like this:

if we want to play a dotted quaver, that is like the length of three semiquavers and the note that follows it could be an semiquaver. Like this:
